Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Welcome to Mongolia! Upon arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short orientation of the city or relax after your flight. In the evening, attend an optional traditional cultural performance featuring throat singing, contortion, folk dance, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle).

Ulaanbaatar → Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa)

Drive: 420 km (6–7 hrs)

Travel south into the vast Gobi region. Arrive at Tsagaan Suvarga, a spectacular series of colorful limestone cliffs shaped by millions of years of erosion. The formations resemble the ruins of an ancient city and glow beautifully during sunrise and sunset.

Tsagaan Suvarga → Yolyn Am

Drive: 230 km (4–5 hrs)

Continue to the stunning Gurvan Saikhan Mountains and visit Yolyn Am, a dramatic canyon known for its towering rock walls and unique microclimate. Even during spring and early summer, patches of ice may remain deep inside the gorge.

Yolyn Am → Khongor Sand Dunes

Drive: 180 km (3–4 hrs)

Journey west across the Gobi to Khongoryn Els, Mongolia's largest and most famous sand dunes. Stretching over 100 km, these dunes are known as the "Singing Dunes" because of the sounds produced by shifting sand.

Khongor Sand Dunes → Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs)

Drive: 150 km (3–4 hrs)

Travel to the legendary Flaming Cliffs, one of the world's most important dinosaur fossil sites. It was here that the first dinosaur eggs were discovered in 1923 by explorer Roy Chapman Andrews.

Bayanzag → Ongi Monastery

Ongi Monastery → Ulaantsutgalan Waterfall
