Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Drive: 52 km (1.5–2 hrs)

Welcome to Mongolia! Upon arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short orientation of the city or relax after your flight. In the evening, attend an optional traditional cultural performance featuring throat singing, contortion, folk dance, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle).

Ulaanbaatar → Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa)

Drive: 420 km (6–7 hrs)

Travel south into the vast Gobi region. Arrive at Tsagaan Suvarga, a spectacular series of colorful limestone cliffs shaped by millions of years of erosion. The formations resemble the ruins of an ancient city and glow beautifully during sunrise and sunset.

Tsagaan Suvarga → Yolyn Am

Drive: 230 km (4–5 hrs)

Continue to the stunning Gurvan Saikhan Mountains and visit Yolyn Am, a dramatic canyon known for its towering rock walls and unique microclimate. Even during spring and early summer, patches of ice may remain deep inside the gorge.

Yolyn Am → Khongor Sand Dunes

Drive: 180 km (3–4 hrs)

Journey west across the Gobi to Khongoryn Els, Mongolia's largest and most famous sand dunes. Stretching over 100 km, these dunes are known as the "Singing Dunes" because of the sounds produced by shifting sand.

Khongor Sand Dunes → Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs)

Drive: 150 km (3–4 hrs)

Travel to the legendary Flaming Cliffs, one of the world's most important dinosaur fossil sites. It was here that the first dinosaur eggs were discovered in 1923 by explorer Roy Chapman Andrews.

Bayanzag → Ongi Monastery

Drive: 170 km (3–4 hrs)

Drive north toward the ruins of Ongi Monastery, once one of Mongolia's largest religious centers. Situated along the Ongi River, the site offers a fascinating glimpse into Mongolia's Buddhist history.

Ongi Monastery → Ulaantsutgalan Waterfall

Drive: 300 km (5–6 hrs)

Ulaantsutgalan Waterfall is the largest and most famous waterfall in Mongolia, plunging about 20 meters into a volcanic canyon. Located in the scenic Orkhon Valley, the waterfall is surrounded by dramatic basalt cliffs, rolling grasslands, and nomadic pastures. It is a popular destination for hiking, photography, and enjoying the natural beauty of central Mongolia.

Ulaantsutgalan Waterfall → Tsenkher Hot Spring

Drive: 110 km (2.5–3 hrs)

Tsenkher Hot Spring is one of Mongolia's most famous natural hot springs, known for its mineral-rich waters that emerge year-round from deep underground. Surrounded by forested hills and beautiful countryside, it offers a perfect place to relax and unwind while exploring the scenic landscapes of central Mongolia.

Tsenkher Hot Spring → Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake

Drive: 220 km (3–4 hrs)

Located in the heart of central Mongolia's volcanic landscape, Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur is one of the country's most beautiful freshwater lakes. Formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago, the lake stretches approximately 16 km in length and is surrounded by rolling hills, lava fields, and rich grasslands. The area is part of Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park, renowned for its stunning scenery, diverse birdlife, and excellent opportunities for hiking, photography, and wildlife observation....

Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake → Zuun Lake

Drive: 160-260 km (4–6 hrs)

Zuun Lake is a peaceful freshwater lake surrounded by rolling hills and open grasslands in Khövsgöl Province. Located along the route to Lake Khövsgöl, it is an excellent place to enjoy scenic landscapes, birdwatching, and the tranquility of Mongolia's countryside. The lake offers a relaxing stop where travelers can experience pristine nature and traditional nomadic life.

Zuun Lake → Khuvsgul Lake

Drive: 240 km (4–5 hrs)

Lake Khövsgöl is Mongolia's largest freshwater lake by volume and one of the country's most spectacular natural attractions. Often called the "Blue Pearl of Mongolia," the lake is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, stunning mountain scenery, and rich biodiversity. It is a popular destination for hiking, boating, and experiencing the pristine beauty of northern Mongolia.

Khuvsgul Lake → Uran Togoo Volcano

Drive: 420 km (6–7 hrs)

Uran Togoo Volcano is a well-preserved extinct volcano known for its impressive crater and panoramic views of the surrounding steppe. Visitors can hike to the rim of the crater and enjoy the unique volcanic landscape, making it a fascinating stop between northern and central Mongolia.

Uran Togoo → Amarbayasgalant Monastery

Drive: 250 km (4–5 hrs)

Amarbayasgalant Monastery is one of Mongolia's largest and most important Buddhist monasteries. Built in the 18th century, it was dedicated to the revered Buddhist leader Zanabazar. Nestled in a beautiful valley at the foot of the Burenkhaan Mountains, the monastery is renowned for its impressive architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and rich cultural heritage. It remains an active religious center and is a highlight of many northern and central Mongolia tours....

Amarbayasgalant Monastery → Ulaanbaatar

Drive: 350 km (5–6 hrs)

After a final morning wildlife excursion, return to Ulaanbaatar. Spend the afternoon shopping for cashmere, souvenirs, and local handicrafts (if time permits) before enjoying a farewell dinner.
